Over the last four decades, demand for \u201cconvenience foods\u201d has grown in the United States, with implications for dietary quality and health. Changes in prices and total food spending drove most food purchasing between 1999 and 2010, but advertising affected purchases of fast-food meals and snacks. The amount of hours worked had little effect on demand.
