PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-handle cheese sauce having a low cheese content and exhibiting no excessive spinnability even at a high temperature.SOLUTION: The provided cheese sauce is a cheese sauce including 0.5-30% of cheese: wherein a tapioca starch (hydroxypropylated tapioca starch), an edible oil, and 0.2-5% of a heat-coagulable protein (excluding milk protein) are included wherein the edible oil content with respect to 1 part of the protein is 3-35 parts and wherein the adhesion time thereof at 70°C is 0.5-1.7 sec. 1-15% of the tapioca starch is included with respect to the total weight of the cheese sauce.
