A method of treating a lack of appetite in a companion animal, comprising the step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of capromorelin containing composition to the companion animal. The method of claim 1, wherein a therapeutically effective amount of capromorelin containing composition is administered orally to the companion animal. The method of claim 1, wherein the therapeutically effective amount of capromorelin containing composition comprises an amount of capromorelin sufficient to achieve a Cmax of about 150 nanograms of capromorelin or its metabolite per milliliter of plasma, in Tmax of about two hours. The method of claim 1, wherein the capromorelin-containing composition further comprises a flavoring or taste masking agent. The method of claim 4, wherein the flavoring or taste masking agent is selected from the group consisting of a sweetener, salt, bitter, acidifying agent, and combinations thereof. The method of claim 5, wherein the sweetener is selected from the group consisting of Thaumatin T200X, rebaudioside A Stevia, MagnaSweet®, Sucralose, Talin-Pure, OptisweetSD, containing the vanilla composition and combinations thereof. The method of claim 1, wherein a therapeutically effective amount of capromorelin-containing composition is administered using a method selected from the group consisting of an aerosol, syringe, pill, tablet, implant, patch and film. The method of claim 1, wherein a therapeutically effective amount of capromorelin containing composition is administered intravenously to a companion animal. The method of claim 1, wherein the therapeutically effective amount of capromorelin containing composition is administered to the companion animal at least once a day.
