PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing favorable chocolate ice cream which has soft and sticky palate feeling, like that of raw chocolate, and whose outer periphery is coated with chocolate.

SOLUTION: The method for producing chocolate ice cream comprises mixing ice cream raw material and chocolate raw material, to prepare a chocolate-ice cream mixture whose oil-and-fat has an average granular diameter of 0.6-4 &mum, and Brix of 66-69 charging the chocolate-ice cream mixture into a mold freezing the mixture together with the mold, followed by taking out the frozen chocolate-ice cream mixture coating the surface with fluid chocolate raw material and solidifying the chocolate raw material.
