PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article capable of improving flexibility, saving resources, and reducing a manufacturing cost by reducing the number of superposed sheets of a non-joined area with stretchability, and improving fitting property and wearing comfort for a wearer.SOLUTION: The underpants type disposable diaper in which both-side edges of a ventral part and both-side edges of a dorsal part are mutually joined together to form a pair of side seal parts, includes: an outermost-layer sheet 12 forming an outer surface of the diaper and an innermost-layer sheet 15 disposed in a skin surface side of the outermost-layer sheet, between the side edge positions of an absorber in at least the ventral part A and the side seal parts and a non-joined area R1 where both sheets are not joined.
