PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a heat generating instrument which prevents peeling off of a substrate sheet from the layer of a heat generating composition, and can perform stable transportation.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes a coating step of coating one face of one substrate sheet 1 with a paint containing oxidizable metal particles and water, and a step of obtaining a heat generating body 10 by piling another substrate sheet 1 different from the substrate sheet 1 on the coating face of the one substrate sheet 1 coated with the paint. The paint contains 50 pts.mass or more of water and 100 pts.mass of the oxidizable metal particles. The one substrate sheet 1 has a lower moisture rate compared to the other substrate sheet 1.
