PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which achieves both further excellent performance of preventing lateral leakage of a liquid by a leakage prevention groove and excellent wearing feeling such as soft texture performance and dry feeling by a surface sheet while keeping bulkiness by unevenness of the surface sheet in the vicinity of the leakage prevention groove.SOLUTION: A surface sheet 1 includes uneven surfaces 11A, 11B which do not involve an embossment part and a hollow part, and at least a pair of right and left leakage prevention grooves 6 dented to an absorber 3 are arranged on the surface sheet. The leakage prevention groove has a row 8 in which a plurality of compressed parts 7, where the surface sheet and the absorber are dented in an integrally compressed state, are aligned in a longitudinal direction (a Y direction). Between the compressed parts in the row, at least a part of the uneven surface of the surface sheet exists, and the absorber between the compressed parts is a thin sub-dented part 9. The compressed parts are joined to each other at the sub-dented part. The compressed part has parts that are different in widths from each other in a plane view of the surface sheet in an extending direction of the row.
