PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which suppresses the residue of a body fluid on a surface sheet and liquid return more effectively, is less likely to cause stuffiness, and can quickly absorb the liquid when a large amount of the body fluid is excreted at one time.SOLUTION: An absorbent article includes a surface sheet 1, a back surface sheet, and an absorber 3. The absorber 3 has a high basis weight region 33 and a low basis weight region 34. The high basis weight region 33 is thicker than the low basis weight region 34, has high density, and is enclosed by the low basis weight region 34, and a plurality of the high basis weight regions are arranged in a plane direction. The surface sheet 1 has a structure in which a plurality of dent parts 12 and a plurality of protrusion parts 11 are alternately arranged in the plane direction on a skin contact surface side. A low fiber density region 13 in which the amount of a fiber is less than surrounding parts is formed in the dent part 12, and an internal space S is formed between the protrusion part 11 and the absorber 3.
