PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, making a wearer hardly feel the thickness of an absorber in wearing, and improving the fitness to give a good wearing feeling.SOLUTION: In a sanitary napkin 1, an absorber 4 is interposed between a liquid permeable surface sheet 3 and a back sheet 2, and a pair of right and left surface embossment grooves 10 are applied in the substantially longitudinal direction on the surface side of the liquid permeable surface sheet 3. In each surface embossment groove 10, the groove bottom surface is provided with a low compression part 15 and high compression parts 16 formed relatively deeper than the low compression part 15 and disposed at predetermined spaces along the surface embossment groove.
