PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for instant rice gruel-like foods, which requires only water or hot water to be mixed therein to easily prepare the rice gruel-like food having excellent taste, physical property stability, and chewing-swallowing characteristics.SOLUTION: This material for the instant rice gruel-like foods, which gives the rice gruel-like food having excellent taste, physical property stability and chewing-swallowing characteristics, when the food is prepared, contains, as a main component, 90-40 pts.wt. of pregelatinized rice flour comprising 10-90 pts.wt. of pregelatinized nonglutinous rice and 90-10 pts.wt. of pregelatinized glutinous rice, and 10-60 pts.wt. of starch hydrolysate having DE of 1-24.
