The invention relates to a device for producing at least one continuous slit-shaped cutfrom the rear surface to the front surface of the cornea of a human eye,comprising alaser device for producing at least one part of the cut using focused pulsedlaserradiation, wherein the laser device comprises controllable components forsetting thelocation of the focus, a control computer for controlling said components, anda controlprogram for the control computer. The control program contains instructions,which aredesigned to cause the creation of at least one part of the cut starting fromthe rearsurface of the cornea when said instructions are executed by the controlcomputer,wherein the cross-sectional course of the cut - observed in the direction fromthe frontsurface to the rear surface, deviates from a straight line perpendicular tothe eyesurface. According to a preferred embodiment, the cross-sectional course ofthe cuthas several straight-line sections, which follow each other in the manner of azig-zagpattern and each pair of which is separated by a kink.
