PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article (a sanitary napkin) capable of quickly absorbing an excretion liquid in the vicinity of an excretion part of a wearer, eliminating a sense of discomfort caused by wetting when the absorbent article is worn, and effectively preventing sideways leakage.
SOLUTION: An absorber 4 has a center height part 42 which is thicker than a peripheral part 43 and which projects toward a surface sheet 2 side formed in an excretion part opposed part A. Both sides of the center height part 42 are respectively inclined outward in the lateral direction of the article. A center part in the lateral direction of the article of an absorber center region 44, composed of the center height part 42 and the peripheral part 43 in the absorber 44 as seen from a cross section of the excretion part opposed part A in the lateral direction of the article, is a center low density part 45 with relatively low density and a sideways part of the absorber center region 44 adjacent to the center part and including at least part of a side of the center height part 42 is a sideways high density part 46 with relatively high density. The sideways high density part 46 continues over the whole length of the center height part 42 in the lateral direction of the article, and the density becomes higher from inside toward outside in the lateral direction of the article.
