Disclosed is a substantially non-hygroscopic carnallite triple salt for use in a food product having the formula: MgKx(NH4)yCIgzH2O Formula III where in the sum of x and y is about 1, wherein 0 <; x <; 1, wherein 0 <; y <; 1, wherein g is about 3, wherein z is about 4-6, and where in the triple salt for use in a food product is substantially non-hygroscopic and substantially free of hydrogen chloride.
