<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lactobacillus suppressing the increase uric acid levels in blood and suitable to food/drink and pharmaceutical applications. <;P>;SOLUTION: Various kinds of lactobacillus are cultured in the presence of a purine body, the consumption level of the purine body and the production level of the purine body's decomposed product are measured, thereby multiple kinds of lactobacillus remarkable in the ability to decompose the purine body are selected. These multiple kinds of lactobacillus are orally administered to rats raised with purine body-containing feed, and the rats' ordinary state and serum uric acid levels are measured. Based on the results, the influence on the serum uric acid levels by the lactobacillus administration is examined. As a result, Lactobacillus gasseri OLL2959 and Lactobacillus oris OLL2779, two kinds of lactobacillus that significantly suppress the serum uric acid levels, are found. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
