PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cleansing composition which is excellent in foaming and foam quality, excellent in hair color fading-suppressing effect, excellent in finger combing property when rinsing, and excellent in moisture feeling imparting property, for colored hair.SOLUTION: The invention provides a hair cleansing composition containing ether carboxylic acid and salts thereof, alkyl glucoside, and a sterol derivative. As the composition, 0.1-20 mass% of ether carboxylic acid and salts thereof, 0.1-20 mass% of alkyl glucoside, and 0.01-3 mass% of a sterol derivative are preferred to be contained respectively. The ether carboxylic acid and salts thereof are polyoxyethylene alkyl ether sodium acetate, and the sterol derivative is a phytosterol derivative.
