PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which can suppress movement of menstrual blood beyond a leakage prevention groove, and which can maintain preferable leakage prevention performance, even when peeling between a surface sheet and an absorber occurs on a leakage prevention groove.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 1 for absorbing menstrual blood comprises: a liquid permeable surface sheet 2 for forming a skin facing surface a rear surface sheet 3 for forming a non-skin facing surface and an absorber 4 arranged between both sheets, and has a vertical direction X along a cross direction of a wearer and a lateral direction Y orthogonal to the vertical direction. A side leakage prevention groove 81 in which the surface sheet 2 is invaginated into the absorber 4, extends on each of both sides along the vertical direction X, on the skin facing surface.
