PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in flexibility and leakage prevention property.SOLUTION: An absorbent article 1 for absorbing menstrual blood comprises: a liquid permeable surface sheet 2 for forming a skin facing surface； a rear surface sheet 3 forming a non-skin facing surface； and an absorber 4 arranged between both sheets, and has a vertical direction X along a cross direction of the wearer, and a lateral direction Y orthogonal to the vertical direction. The absorbent article has a side leakage prevention groove 81 extending in the vertical direction X on each of both sides of a vertical direction center line CL on the skin facing surface, and the side leakage prevention groove 81 is configured so that, plural short grooves 81a-81c in which the surface sheet 2 is invaginated into the absorber 4, are arranged in the vertical direction X so as to have a gap 47d between the short grooves.
