PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red flesh apple having a strong sweet taste and a weak acid taste, and a method for breeding the same.SOLUTION: This apple having the red flesh/a red pericarp and a red flesh character-causing gene in the vicinity of an S-gene locus is provided. Also, the apple having the red flesh/a yellow pericarp and ≥12° Brix degree of sugar is provided.
