The present invention relates to an improved composition for cryopreservation of mammalian sperm, more specifically porcine, camel, bovine and equine sperm, comprising (i) a penetrating cryoprotecting agent selected within the group comprising a polyol having 4 - 7 C-atoms, and (ii) a cyclodextrin-cholesterol-complex and possibly saccharides, proteins and/or antibacterial agents, buffer compositions and antioxydants. The invention composition shows improved quality and extended preservation of quality after thawing, improved preservation of sperm fertility, allows for extended delay prior to freezing collected sperm samples and for higher sperm concentrations in the composition without affecting sperm quality after thawing.La présente invention concerne une composition améliorée pour la cryoconservation de sperme de mammifère, plus particulièrement du sperme porcin, de chameau, bovin et équin, comprenant (i) un agent de cryoprotection pénétrant choisi dans le groupe comprenant un polyol ayant 4 à 7 atomes de C, et (ii) un complexe cyclodextrine-cholestérol et éventuellement des saccharides, des protéines et/ou des agents antibactériens, des compositions tampon et des antioxydants. La composition de l'invention présente une meilleure qualité et une meilleure conservation de la qualité après décongélation, une meilleure conservation de la fertilité du sperme, permet un délai étendu avant la congélation d'échantillons de sperme collectés et des concentrations plus élevées de sperme dans la composition sans affecter la qualité du sperme après décongélation.
