The scissor mechanism comprises a first scissor link (104) and a second scissor link (102). The scissor mechanism further comprises a scissor pivot (106) which joins the first scissor link and the second scissor link. The second scissor link comprises a drive member (134). The scissor mechanism further comprises a linear drive element (138). The scissor mechanism is adapted such that linear motion of the linear drive element causes the drive member to follow a predetermined path (134).
