PURPOSE: A granular pharmaceutical composition containing alginic acid compounds and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to reduce the possibility of microorganism contamination and to enhance storage stability. CONSTITUTION: A granular pharmaceutical composition contains 15-40 wt% of sodium alginate or pharmaceutically-acceptable salts. The composition is used as a therapeutic agent for treating gastric acid-related diseases. The composition further contains 10-15 wt% of sodium hydrogen carbonate or 5-10 wt% of calcium carbonate； and 1-5 wt% of carbomer, 10-20 wt% of lactose, 15-30 wt% of xylitol, or 5-10 wt% of mannitol.
