PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening surface formation material which is excellent in water-holding properties and in which occurrence of sags in the shape of a layer part is hardly caused.SOLUTION: A greening surface formation material comprises: a support medium 11 a water retention layer 12 which is arranged on a surface of the support medium a weir material 13 which keeps water passing through the water retention layer 12 a surface layer 14 which covers a front side of the water retention layer 12 with a partitioned region caused by sewing a nick part 15 which is formed on the surface layer 14 in communication with a root spread region formed between the water retention layer 12 and the surface layer 14 and an irrigation pipe 16 which drips water to a top edge of the water retention layer 12.
