PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable maintenance even in a state where requirements of a safety mechanism are not satisfied in a device for performing photoacoustic imaging.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device includes a light source for radiating light to a subject by an optical device, a probe for receiving an acoustic wave generated from the subject irradiated with the light, movement means for moving the optical device and the probe along the subject, a safety mechanism for inhibiting light irradiation when safety requirements of the light source are not satisfied, and inhibiting movement when the safety requirements of the movement means are not satisfied, and control means.
