PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for an electronic endoscope which, when controlling an amount of light with a lighting control mechanism, controls the intensity distribution of illuminating light so as to reduce the intensity difference between a center part and a peripheral part, thereby realizing suitable observation with the electronic endoscope.SOLUTION: The light control mechanism comprises: a light-shielding part which shields parallel illumination light emitted by a light source and plural openings which allow the parallel illumination light to pass therethrough.
