The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for calculating a scanning locus of light, and an optical scanning device, whereby constraints are not placed on hardware and a high-quality image can be obtained. A first embodiment of this method for calculating a scanning locus of light is characterized by including a step for detecting the resonance frequency and attenuation coefficient of an oscillating part of an optical fiber for guiding light from a light source and emitting the light to a subject, and a step for calculating a scanning locus of the light from the detected resonance frequency and attenuation coefficient.
