PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substance exhibiting extremely excellent antioxidative action in the living body and an antioxidation agent, etc., containing the substance as an active component.
SOLUTION: The invention provides 2-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenoxy)-6-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-cis-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane, 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenoxy)-6-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-cis-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane and their mixture, which are metabolic products of sesame lignan prepared by using sesamolin as a raw material. The invention further provides an antioxidative agent, a pharmaceutical composition, a feed, a food and a drink containing such a lignan compound as an active component.
