The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating female climacteric symptoms, comprising a fermentation product of Glycyrrhiza uralensis obtained using Monascus sp., as an effective component. The present invention has confirmed that when producing the extract of Glycyrrhiza uralensis by using Monascus sp., liquiritin and isoliquiritin in Glycyrrhiza uralensis are converted to liquiritigenin and isoliquiritigenin with superior biological activities, and selectively bind to estrogen receptor β (ERβ), and concomitantly produce monacolin K, which is used as a drug for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Thus, the fermentation product of Glycyrrhiza uralensis exhibiting the aforesaid effects may be beneficially utilized as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating female climacteric symptoms, a health functional food composition for preventing or alleviating female climacteric symptoms, or the like, with no adverse side effect.본 발명은 홍국균을 이용한 감초 발효물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 여성 갱년기 질환 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명에서는 홍국균을 이용하여 감초 발효물 제조 시, 감초의 리퀴리틴과 이소리퀴리틴이 생리활성이 더 우수한 리퀴리티제닌과 이소리퀴리티제닌으로 전환되어 에스트로겐 수용체 β(ERβ)에 선택적 결합하고, 심혈관계 질환 치료제로 사용되는 모나콜린 케이를 부수적으로 생산하는 것을 확인한 바, 상기와 같은 효과를 나타내는 감초 발효물은 부작용이 없는 여성 갱년기 질환 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물, 여성 갱년기 질환 예방 또는 개선용 건강식품 조성물 등으로 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
