PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lipid hydrate that permits the manufacture of a liposome preparation in a high yield and a method of manufacturing the liposome preparation.SOLUTION: The lipid hydrate comprises a lipid, an organic solvent and water, where the volume fraction of particles having a particle diameter of 1 μm or less is at most 20 vol.% based on the whole amount of the lipid particles. A manufacturing method for the lipid hydrate comprises dissolving the lipid in the organic solvent to prepare a homogeneous lipid solution, then removing the organic solvent so that the weight percentage of the remaining organic solvent relative to the sum of the weight of the total lipid and the weight of the organic solvent is 2-10 wt.%, and subsequently adding warm water at a temperature not lower than the phase transition temperature of the lipid.
