The invention relates to a novel use of a pharmaceutical composition comprising at least one methyl cyclodextrin having a degree of molar substitution (MS) of between 0.05 and 1.5 in the treatment and/or prevention of diseases that can be treated and/or prevented by an increase in the HDL cholesterol level. The invention also relates to the use thereof in the treatment and/or prevention of atherosclerosis or complications relating to an atheroma. The pharmaceutical compositions of the invention can also be used to stimulate a reduction in the level of circulating fatty acids and triglycerides and to reduce or prevent atheromatous plaques.La présente invention est relative à une nouvelle utilisation d'une composition pharmaceutique comprenant au moins une méthyl-cyclodextrine présentant un degré de substitution molaire (MS) compris entre 0,05 et 1,5 dans le traitement et/ou la prévention de maladies susceptibles d'être traitées et/ou prévenues par une augmentation du taux de cholestérol-HDL. Elle concerne également son utilisation dans le traitement et/ou la prévention de l'athérosclérose ou des complications liées à un athérome. Les compositions pharmaceutiques de l'invention peuvent également être utilisées pour favoriser en outre la diminution du taux de triglycérides et d'acides gras circulants et réduire ou prévenir les plaques d'athérome.
