The invention concerns a method for managing a cardiac pump (13) intended to assist the heart of a patient, said cardiac pump (13) being intended to send pressurised blood at a flow rate proportional to the speed of rotation Vrpm of said pump (13) through the aortic valve of said heart. The invention involves carrying out the following steps, during a same ventricular systole: (a) detecting the closing of the mitral valve of said heart, the speed of rotation Vrpm of the pump (13) being strictly less than a maximum value Vrpm max of the speed of rotation of said pump (13), (b) increasing the speed of rotation Vrpm of said pump (13) such that, at a time t2, after the time t corresponding to the closing of the mitral valve, the speed of rotation of the pump (13) is equal, or substantially equal, to said maximum value Vrpm max of the speed of rotation, (c) keeping the speed of rotation Vrpm of the pump (13) at this maximum value Vrpm max for at least a portion of the time period T during which the aortic valve is open, and - optionally repeating steps (a) to (c) for at least the ventricular systole of a next cardiac cycle.L'invention concerne un procédé de gestion d'une pompe (13) cardiaque destinée à assister le cœur d'un patient, ladite pompe (13)cardiaque étant destinée à envoyer du sang sous pression à un débit proportionnel à la vitesse de rotation Vrpm de ladite pompe (13)au travers de la valve aortique dudit cœur.
