592974 An apparatus (1) for removably attaching a lateral support to a chair is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a support frame adapted to be removably attached to the chair. The support frame comprises two side members (2, 3), a lateral member (4, 5), coupled between the side members, and an adjustment mechanism (4a, 4b, 5a, 5b). The adjustment mechanism telescopically adjusts the lateral distance between the two side members to releasably clamp the side members on either side of the chair. One or both side members are adapted to receive a lateral support for supporting a person seated in the chair to sit upright.
