PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the sense of discomfort for a handle operation of a driver at the execution of automatic steering control of avoiding an obstacle.SOLUTION: A steering device 35 of an electric vehicle includes: a steering shaft 29 transmitting the operation force from an operation handle 32 to front wheels 12 and control means for executing automatic steering control of avoiding an obstacle at the detection of the obstacle by obstacle detection means. The steering shaft 29 includes: an upper steering shaft 29A which is connected to the operation handle 32 and a lower steering shaft 29B which is connected to the front wheel 12 side. The steering device also includes connection/release means 37 which connects the upper and lower steering shafts, or releases the connection.
