PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable work machine capable of smoothly performing a telescopic operation even when a fixed pipe and a movable pipe are deformed to some extent.SOLUTION: An electric bush cutter includes a telescopic pipe in which a fixed pipe 40 and a movable pipe 70 having a diameter smaller than that of the fixed pipe 40 are connected by a connecting member 50 provided at a front edge of the fixed pipe 40, and a working apparatus mounted on a front edge of the movable pipe 70. The connecting member 50 includes a supporting unit 51 on which a bearing member 55 is arranged, the bearing member 55 supporting the movable pipe 70 by coming in contact with an outer surface thereof, and a fastening portion 52 for fastening the movable pipe 70 to the fixed pipe 40.
