PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which prevents return and uses a cotton fiber on a surface sheet, capable of reducing water retention of the surface sheet as much as possible.SOLUTION: There is provided an incontinence pad 1 for a medium volume or more for absorbing 20 cc or more of a urine volume. A surface sheet 3 is configured so that a water repellent is coated to a spunlace nonwoven fabric formed of 100 mass% of a cotton fiber. Plural first recess part lines 20 which are along a prescribed inclination angle direction and formed with a constant interval in a pad longitudinal direction, and plural second recess part lines 21 which are along an inclination angle direction in which the first recess part lines 20 are reversed in a width direction on a pad longitudinal direction line, and formed with a constant interval in the pad longitudinal direction, form diamond-shaped lattice pattern recessed part lines 20, 21, on a skin facing surface side in plane view. Definition areas 22 which have a diamond-shaped lattice shape which are divided by the recess part lines 20, 21 are adjacently arranged in the pad longitudinal direction and the width direction.
