In the present invention, a core press and a widthwise absorbent body embossment are formed on at least the surface-sheet side of an absorbent body. The core press is a recess which is recessed to the back-sheet side such that a space is formed with respect to the surface sheet, and in which the thickness of the absorbent body is compressed in the widthwise direction. The widthwise absorbent body embossment extends in a substantially widthwise direction in a widthwise central part of the absorbent body. A non-pressed part that interrupts the core press at a part that overlaps the widthwise absorbent body embossment and in the vicinity of the overlapping part is formed around the widthwise absorbent body embossment. A longitudinal surface embossment is formed on the outer surface of the surface sheet so as to extend in the longitudinal direction in the widthwise central part of a sanitary napkin and cross the widthwise absorbent body embossment. The longitudinal surface embossment is a recess formed as a result of the surface sheet and the absorbent article being recessed together toward the back-sheet side.
