PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article with a leak-preventing groove, which absorbs and diffuses excreted liquid quickly, eliminates discomfort of a user due to wetting, has moderate flexibility, and improves fit.SOLUTION: An absorber 4 includes a high basis weight part 41 having a relatively high basis weight, and a low basis weight part 42 adjoining the high basis weight part 41 and having a relatively low basis weight. The low basis weight part 42 is unevenly distributed on the skin contact surface side in the thickness direction of the absorbent article 1. The absorbent article 1 has a groove 7 which is formed of a surface sheet 2 and the absorber 4 recessed integrally, and extends in the length direction X of the absorbent article 1. The groove 7 is formed over the high basis weight part 41 and the low basis weight part 42. In the groove 7, a shallow groove part 73 recessed shallowly relatively and a deep groove part 74 recessed deeply relatively are formed alternately along the length direction of the groove 7.
