This filter (12) for the purification of polluted aquarium water is characterized in that it comprises a container (20) having a water inlet polluted under pressure (11) at the bottom and at least one outlet filtered water in the upper part, said container (20) being partially filled with a biofiltration medium, lighter than water, on which a bacterial biofilm purifier is able to develop or is developed, said film containing bacteria nitrifying agents capable of biodegrading the nitrogenous compounds derived from the metabolism of the animals of the aquarium (1), said container (20) also having in the lower part an outlet (30) for purging the excess bacterial mass which may over time become detached biofiltration medium. Ce filtre (12) pour la purification d'une eau polluée d'aquarium est caractérisé par le fait qu'il comporte un récipient (20) présentant une entrée d'eau polluée sous pression (11) en partie basse et au moins une sortie d'eau filtrée en partie haute, ledit récipient (20) étant partiellement rempli d'un milieu de biofiltration, plus léger que l'eau, sur lequel un biofilm bactérien épurateur est apte à se développer ou est développé, ledit film renfermant des bactéries nitrifiantes aptes à biodégrader les composés azotés issus du métabolisme des animaux de l'aquarium (1), ledit récipient (20) présentant également en partie basse une sortie (30) de purge de la masse bactérienne excédentaire qui peut au cours du temps se détacher du milieu de biofiltration.
