An X-ray tube is provided adapted to generate X-ray beams, comprising a first and a second deflection device mounted external or internal to the X-ray tube between a cathode and an anode in a diagonal manner for focal spot deflection in a combined x- and y- direction. The first and second deflection devices are triggered alternately such that only one deflection device is activated at a time. The first and second deflection devices may be triggered according to a predetermined switching sequence, e.g. producing a predetermined deflection pattern of the focal spot. Thereby, an improved x- and z-flying focal spot methodology is provided.La présente invention concerne un tube à rayons X adapté pour générer des faisceaux de rayons X, comprenant un premier et un deuxième dispositif de déviation monté en position externe ou interne par rapport au tube à rayons X entre une cathode et une anode dune manière diagonale pour déviation de foyer dans une direction x et y combinée. Les premier et deuxième dispositifs de déviation sont déclenchés de façon alternée de sorte quun seul dispositif de déviation soit activé à la fois. Les premier et deuxième dispositifs de déviation peuvent être déclenchés selon une séquence de commutation prédéterminée, par exemple en produisant un profil de déviation prédéterminé du foyer. Ainsi, une méthodologie de foyer volant x et y amélioré est produite.
