Tablets are prepared with friability reducing agents to yield tablets that aremoreresistant to breakage or crumbling, but with satisfactory hardness. Thefriability reducingagents include low molecular weight polyethylene glycol as well as similaragents exhibitingat least three percent (3%) hydroxide moieties and a water solubility of atleast eighty percent(80%) (w/w %) in room temperature water. The tablets may comprise an activeagent andexcipient of almost any type, and about 0.1 ¨ about 0.5% by weight friabilityreducing agent.They exhibit a hardness of at least eighty percent (80%) of the same tabletprepared withoutthe friability reducing agent.
