PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an absorber, which makes it possible to easily manufacture an absorber that has partially different thickness, height, basis weight, etc., and a manufacturing apparatus for an absorber, which is able to easily alter the piling width for a material and able to suitably be used in the practice or the like of the manufacturing method for an absorber.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for an absorber includes a step of piling the material 31 by sucking the material 31 to a suction face 22 that has a large number of narrow holes formed in a rotary drum 2, the material 31 being supplied by being entrained on an airflow. In this manufacturing method, width control members 25, 25 movable in the width direction of the rotary drum 2 are provided on the peripheral part 21 of the rotary drum 2. During the piling of the material 31 on the suction face 22, these width control members 25, 25 are moved, thereby changing the width W by which the material 31 piles on the suction face 22.
