The present invention relates to an apparatus for walking assistance for assisting walking which recognizes a user&prime；s will to walk and helps the user move his or her foot forward and backward. The apparatus for walking assistance according to the present invention includes: a main body that has an inner space； first and second traveling driving bodies that are disposed in parallel to be capable of traveling in a front-back direction in the main body； and a traveling unit that has first and second supporting foot plates which respectively extend out of the main body from the traveling driving body and support the foot of the user. The first and second supporting foot plates are formed to recognize lifting of the user&prime；s heels and drive the first and second traveling driving bodies when the user&prime；s heels on the first and second supporting foot plates are lifted.본 발명은 사용자의 보행 의지를 인식하여 사용자의 발을 전후로 움직이도록 도와주어 보행을 보조하는 보행 보조장치에 관한 것이다.본 발명에 따른 보행 보조장치는 내부공간을 가지는 본체와, 상기 본체의 내부에서 전후방향을 따라 주행 가능하도록 나란하게 설치되는 제1, 제2 주행구동체와, 상기 주행구동체로부터 각각 상기 본체의 외부로 연장되며 사용자의 발을 지지하는 제1, 제2 지지발판을 포함하는 주행유닛을 구비하며, 상기 제1, 제2 지지발판은 상기 제1, 제2 지지발판을 밟고 있는 사용자의 발 뒤꿈치가 들릴 때, 이를 감지하여 상기 제1, 제2 주행구동체를 구동시키도록 형성된다.
