The present invention relates to a composition comprising an extract of Platycodon grandiflorum as an active ingredient for preventing, improving or treating obesity, and a method for preparing an extract of Platycodon grandiflorum having an improved anti-obesity effect. According to the present invention, the extract of Platycodon grandiflorum has the effects of inhibiting and normalizing an increase in body weight and body fat content caused by high-fat diet in a mouse model in wihch dietary obesity is induced, and inhibiting an increase in a fasting serum glucose level and a decrease in energy metabolic rate. In addition, as compared to the extract of Platycodon grandiflorum obtained by the known extraction method, the extract according to the present invention has significantly higher effects of inhibiting an increase in body weight and body fat content, an increase in fasting serum glucose level and an increase in blood lipid and adipokine contents. Thus, it is experimentally demonstrated that the extract according to the present inventikn has an excellent anti-obseity effect. It is expected that the extract of Platycodon grandiflorum obtained by the extraction method according to the present invention is useful for preventing or treating not only obesity but also obesity-related complications that may occur due to an increase in body fat content.본 발명은 길경추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는, 비만의 예방, 개선, 또는 치료용 조성물 및 항비만 효과가 향상된 길경추출물의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 길경추출물은 식이성 비만 유도 마우스 모델에서 고지방식이에 의한 체중 및 체지방량의 증가를 억제하여 정상화시키고, 공복혈당 증가 및 에너지 대사율 감소를 억제시키는 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 기연구된 추출방법으로 제조된 길경추출물과 비교하여 체중 및 체지방량 증가 억제, 공복혈당 증가 억제, 및 혈중 지질과 아디포카인 함량 증가 억제효과가 현저히 뛰어남을 관찰함으로써 항비만 효과가 우수함을 실험적으로 확인하였는바, 본 발명에 따른 추출방법으로 제조된 길경추출물은 비만뿐 만 아니라 체지방량 증가에 따라 유발될 수 있는 비만 관련 합병증의 예방 또는 치료 용도로 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
