PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wheelchair capable of eliminating dead angles caused by a user operating the control lever and avoiding obstacle detection errors, these features being needed to deal with obstacle detection errors caused by the users leg or clothing covering an obstacle detection sensor and with the possibility that the safety of the electric wheelchair is deteriorated by limitation of the field of view caused by the users arm steering the electric wheelchair.SOLUTION: The electric wheelchair comprises: a wheelchair body 101 a driving unit 130 for driving the wheelchair body a right-side obstacle detection sensor 124-1 provided on a right-side front portion of the wheelchair body a left-side obstacle detection sensor 124-2 provided on a left-side front portion of the wheelchair body and a control lever 301 which is provided on the right side or left side of the wheelchair body and controls the driving of the wheelchair body by inputting commands to the driving unit.
