PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an accumulation product comprising a fiber material and a water-absorbing polymer, by which a water-absorbing polymer distribution state in the thickness direction of the accumulation product can efficiently be controlled in a desired state without requiring a complicated installation, and to provide an apparatus for producing the same.
SOLUTION: This method for producing the accumulation product 8 includes a process for introducing the water-absorbing polymer into a fiber-carrying gas flow 42 flowing in a duct 3 through a polymer supply pipe 5 to suck and accumulate the flied fiber material and the flied water-absorbing polymer. In this method, flow directions F1, F2 are given to the water-absorbing polymer 51 introduced from a polymer supply pipe 5 into the duct 3 to control the distribution state of the water-absorbing polymer 51 in the thickness direction of the accumulation product 8.
