PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, even when an excretion amount is a little, capable of blocking a liquid flowing out in the lateral direction due to a wearers movement or the like and capable of retaining soft texture and dry touch.SOLUTION: The absorbent article includes: a surface sheet 1 disposed on a skin contact surface side, a backside sheet 2 disposed at a skin non-contact surface side, and a liquid-retention absorbent core 3 interposedly disposed between both sheets. The absorbent core contains hydrophilic fiber and water absorptive polymer, and is divided, in the lateral direction, into a pair of left/right lateral-part absorption parts 36, and a central absorption part 37 sandwiched between the lateral-part absorption parts. The lateral-part absorption parts are disposed in the longitudinal direction in plan view. A basis weight of the water absorptive polymer in the lateral-side absorption parts is larger than that of the central absorption part, the basis weight (q1) of the lateral water absorption amount is larger than that of the central absorption part, and a ratio (q1/q2) of the basis weight (q1) of the water absorptive polymer of the lateral-part absorption part to the basis weight (q2) of the water absorptive polymer of the central absorption part is not less than 2 and not more than 5.
