PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorber and an absorbent article, capable of achieving both of a high absorption amount and a high absorption speed and demonstrating a high absorption performance in repetitive absorption of excretory fluid by long-term use.SOLUTION: In the absorber and the absorbent article 10 using the absorber, the absorber 10 has pulp 21 and a water absorptive polymer 22 and has a groove 11 with a depth of 20 to 100% of the thickness of the absorber 10, and a mass ratio indicated by [mass of the pulp]/[mass of the water absorptive polymer] in the absorber 10 is 1/3 to 1/0.01.
