PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an absorbent article capable of improving absorption capacity of an excreted liquid while securing an ability to diffuse the excreted liquid on a liquid diffusion sheet repeatedly and utilizing a whole absorber effectively.SOLUTION: A liquid diffusion sheet 13 formed of a nonwoven fabric including a cellulose fiber is disposed between an absorber 12 and a liquid impermeable sheet 11. The absorber 12 contains a pulp fiber and a water-absorbing polymer and comprises: a water-absorbing polymer high-volume layer 23 with which a volume ratio of the water-absorbing polymer contained is set to be the highest in relative to the volume of the water-absorbing polymer contained in the whole absorber when a cross section of the absorber 12 in a thickness direction is divided into 5 equal parts in the thickness direction and a water-absorbing polymer low-volume layer 24 with which the volume ratio of the water-absorbing polymer contained is lower than the water-absorbing polymer high-volume layer 23.
