PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article in which a wrapping material is divided into an abdomen side sheet member and a back side sheet member and which is further excellent in appearance viewed from the back side or the lateral side of a wearer.
SOLUTION: The underpants type absorbent article 1 has the abdomen side sheet member 2A, the back side sheet member 2B, and an absorbent body 3, The absorbent article further has side seal parts 4, 4 in both side fringe parts 2a, 2b of the abdomen side and back side sheet members 2A, 2B. The back side sheet member 2B has back side extending out parts 21b extending out below the side seal parts 4. The absorbent body 3 has a longitudinally elongate absorbent member 33 and side sheet parts 34 disposed outside of the absorbent member 33 and forming side gathers 34c between the abdomen side and back side sheet member 2A, 2B. The side sheet parts 34 are laid to the outside of a diaper lateral direction (Y direction) and fixed to the back side extending out parts 21b and elastic members 36 forming the side gathers 38c do not reach the back side extending out parts 21b.
