An object of the present invention is to provide a 2-O-α-D-glycosyl-L-ascorbic acid composition excellent in moisture retention and skin wettability.The present invention relates to a composition containing 2-O-α-D- maltosyl -L-ascorbic acid and method for producing same, the composition contains a compound represented by the following general formula (1) or its salt (In the formula, n represents an integer of 1 or more.), characterized in that not less than 70 mol% of the 2-O-α-D-glycosyl-L-ascorbic acid is 2-O-α-D-maltosyl -L-ascorbic acid (n=2). The composition of the present invention is excellent in moisture retention and skin wettability, and is useful as an external preparation for skin.本發明之目的係提供保濕性及肌膚濕潤性優異的2-O-α-D-糖基-L-抗壞血酸組成物。本發明係關於一種含有2-O-α-D-麥芽糖基-L-抗壞血酸之組成物及其製造方法，前述組成物含有下述通式(1)表示之2-O-α-D-糖基-L-抗壞血酸或其鹽的組成物(式中，n表1以上的整數。)其中，前述2-O-α-D-糖基-L-抗壞血酸中的70莫耳%以上為2-O-α-D-麥芽糖基-L-抗壞血酸(n=2)。本發明之組成物之保濕性及肌膚濕潤性優異，適合用作為皮膚外用劑。
