PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel avoiding risks and protecting in strength the level-wind mechanism when a circular frame is gripped and held while keeping the frames favorable grippability and holdability.SOLUTION: The fishing reel 10 includes: a reel body 12 provided with a frame 20 having side frames 14 and 16 right and left a handle 42 set on one side of the reel body 12 and reelingly driving a fishline-reeling spool 28 and a level-winding mechanism L having in between the front side frames of the spool a line guide 36 making transversely reciprocating motions in conjunction with handle operation.
